Importuning ORC § 2907.07

Definition of Importuning:

  • Soliciting a person who is less than 13 years old,
  • To engage in sexual activity, or
  • Soliciting a person who is 13-15 years old to engage in sexual conduct when the solicitor is 18 or over and 4 or more years older than the person solicited.

Potential Penalties:

Importuning is a misdemeanor of the first degree when it involves soliciting a person under the age of 13, carrying a penalty of up to 180 days in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000. If the importuning involves a person between the ages of 13 and 15, it is a misdemeanor of the fourth degree carrying a penalty of up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of $250.
